It is already the middle of August and though Tokyo resembles a mist sauna, Fall will soon bring relief with lower temperatures and crispy air. For this month’s soap challenge, hosted by Amy Warden at Great Cakes Soapworks, I chose a color theme which (hopefully) includes colors of the two seasons I love: summer and fall.
The theme of the challenge is Mantra Marbles, a new technique which helps you achieve a relatively uniform results for all bars of a batch.
I was somewhat worried about using two horizontal dividers in a silicon mold (mine were made of cardboard paper) but they did hold the soap portions well. I used the Non Pareil Mantra swirl but as the middle portion set up faster than the two side ones (I used the food blender for several secconds longer) and the marbled soap spilled over the solid color middle at some points. So I ended up with not-so-uniform patterns on both sides.
