Though it is already November Tokyo is still predominantly green. The sazanka bushes (Camellia sasanqua) which line many streets in the Metropolitan area are rich with flower buds. They are to open in a couple of weeks! Every year, the sazanka blooms, a feast of pinks and whites, give the city a summer-like festive look in the cold days of winter.
The other day, I made soap using both organic and inorganic colorants. The pink comes from rose clay while the orange is from sweet paprika infused oil. A color combination, which I would not have used several years ago (but that would be before I lived in Hokkaido and learned to appreciate the ability of colors to bring brightness into overcast and cold winter days.)
I could not resist making a few waves on top, again 😉
Though I have never seen pink jasmine flowers, I scented the soap with essential oils of jasmine, rose, geranium and sandalwood – a combination which I had wanted to try for quite some time.
The seasons are about to change again and I very much hope that the transition will be smooth and pleasant without any storms, typhoons or violent winds.
