The violent winds driven by Typhoon N 17 rushed through Tokyo and are now going north. The rain was not so much here and I believe that the citisens of the metropolitan area feel relieved. Tomorrow will be another day, hopefully with bright skies and lower temperatures.
Yesterday I visited NaKin blog and saw some beautiful soaps colored with Japanese indigo.
I was really excited because this is the first time to have seen Japanese indigo used for soap out of Japan. I have worked with Indian and Japanese indigo and from my experience so far can say that while the Indian indigo is more purple-blue, the Japanese gives a soft blue color showing a pale green sub-tone.
At least the soaps I get were more or less so.
I usually use indigo extract (in water) and depending on the amount of exract and the type of oils used in the soap, the color can vary.
I have noticed that when I use extra virgin olive oil, it affects the color by adding a yellowish-green hue to the basic color. This hue, however disappears with time but it takes more than 3 month to get the base color as I have imagined it.
The soaps above are both made with Japanese indigo, which for me is easier to work with.
I hope you have an enjoyable day!
